• Santa Rosa police chief addresses concerns about Flock cameras, privacy and ICE access (norcalpublicmedia.org) — Santa Rosa residents are being invited to question police about Flock license plate reader cameras, with a community meeting set for Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. on Stony Point Road. Police Chief John Cregan says the system isn't shared with federal immigration authorities and wants residents, especially immigrants, to raise privacy concerns and suggest stronger safeguards.
   

• 'A huge transformation': Roseland Elementary begins new school year after major renovations (pressdemocrat.com) — Families in southwest Santa Rosa are starting the school year with a dramatically upgraded Roseland Elementary campus, including new TK and kindergarten classrooms, safer parking and drop-off areas, and modern playgrounds. Funded largely by local bonds and reserves, the $18.3 million project replaces aging portables and improves security, with a second phase of construction already being planned.
   

• Lowe's Home Centers Pays $546,600 to Settle California Gift Card Law Violations (ca.gov) — Sonoma County's district attorney in Santa Rosa has secured a $546,600 settlement with Lowe's over violations of California's Gift Card Law, including failures to provide cash back on small balances. The judgment, issued by a Sonoma County judge, also forces Lowe's to update card language, post in-store notices, and train staff so local shoppers can more easily reclaim leftover gift card funds.
