Returns to Help First Responders With Mental Health Needs (keyt.com) — A major two‑day One805LIVE! benefit at Kevin Costner's oceanside property is raising money for mental health services for Santa Barbara County first responders. With support from local law enforcement leaders and performances by big‑name musicians, the event helps fund wellness programs officers and firefighters rely on after difficult calls. Some general admission tickets remain available online for residents.
   

2. Choreography Showcase on Santa Barbara: Get Tickets Now! (theatermania.com) — Santa Barbara County dancers are coming together Oct. 17 at Center Stage Theater for Be Momentum's 4th Annual Choreography Showcase, a fundraiser supporting local dance scholarships. Trails open following storm repairs (keyt.com) — Hikers in the Santa Barbara area can once again enjoy Old Romero Road, Franklin, Arroyo Burro, Matias Connector, and North Tunnel trails after storm damage closures dating back to early 2023. The Santa Barbara Ranger District and local trail groups spent months repairing damage, though parts of Santa Cruz Trail, Aliso Loops, and lower North Tunnel remain closed while work continues.

Arroyo Hondo Preserve, Saved to Inspire Future Generations, Turns 25 (noozhawk.com) — Arroyo Hondo Preserve on the Gaviota Coast is celebrating its 25th anniversary this Saturday with a free family-friendly event featuring nature tours, creek exploration, and kids' activities. Just a short drive from Santa Barbara, the preserve showcases restored habitats, thriving wildlife, and hands-on school programs that connect local children with the region's natural and cultural history.
   

5. Santa Barbara Chamber Players Open Season with Conductor Daniel Gee and Cellist Jakub Omsky (independent.com) — Santa Barbara music lovers can catch the Chamber Players' season opener on Saturday, October 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church on La Cumbre Road. Conductor Daniel Gee, a key figure in Santa Barbara's music scene, leads a program featuring cellist Jakub Omsky in Shostakovich's Cello Concerto, plus works by Fanny Hensel and Mozart, with free admission for those 18 and under.
