• Beach Hazards Statement issued September 26 at 7:27PM PDT until September 30 at 4:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA (keyt.com) — Dangerous rip currents and 3–5 foot breaking waves are expected along the Santa Barbara County coast, including Santa Barbara Harbor, through Wednesday afternoon. Locals should avoid swimming in unguarded areas, watch for minor tidal flooding in low-lying beach lots and paths, and stay off rocks and jetties during high tide.
   

• Brain Imaging Center Director, Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences (ucsb.edu) — UC Santa Barbara is recruiting a new director for its Brain Imaging Center, a full-time tenured or tenure-track role based in Santa Barbara starting July 2027 or later. The position combines leading a cutting-edge MRI facility with teaching, mentoring, and research in human neuroscience, and applications will receive full consideration if submitted by November 1, 2026.
   

• UCSB Women's Soccer Earns First Conference Win Over Sacramento State, 1-0 (noozhawk.com) — UC Santa Barbara's women's soccer team notched its first conference win with a 1-0 shutout over Sacramento State at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, thanks to a second-half penalty kick by Emily Caughey. Local fans saw the Gauchos control play throughout and now can follow the team as it heads into a three-game road stretch starting Wednesday at Cal State Bakersfield.
