$1,800 Theft Caught In Progress, Sheriff's Office Says

FREEDOM, CA — A man was caught by witnesses and cell phone video while stealing power tools from a truck in Freedom, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said. Edgar Monjaras Pineda was stealing about $1,800 of power tools from the car, the sheriff's office said.

The owner of the tools saw the theft in progress, the sheriff's office said. Pineda was arrested on suspicion of grand theft.
