10,000 Maniacs Cancel Santa Cruz, Tom Petty Tribute Band Steps Up

SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk announced that Michael Furlong’s Tribute to Tom Petty will replace 10,000 Maniacs on Friday, Aug. 16 for Free Friday Night Bands on the Beach.
10,000 Maniacs canceled its show due to the lead singer's illness. "We are very sorry to cancel this weekend’s shows. Unfortunately our lead singer, Mary Ramsey, is unable to perform due to a severe case of the flu. She is seeking medical care," according to the band.
Michael Furlong, lead vocalist, lead guitar player, international recording artist and songwriter is the centerpiece of Michael Furlong’s Tribute to Tom Petty. "His look, sound, stage persona and uncanny resemblance to Tom Petty make his show a stand-out among tribute bands," according to a statement from Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Michael Furlong’s Tribute to Tom Petty will perform free shows on the Boardwalk's Beach Bandstand at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 16.
