Cal Fire funded more than $5 million in projects for Santa Cruz and San Mateo Counties.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County has been awarded $2.7 million from Cal Fire to improve forest health. Cal Fire has awarded more than $67 million to 13 counties.
The funding will be used to reduce fuel, manage pests, conduct research, plant trees and more on 506 high-priority acres of state lands in the county, with the goal being to make the land healthier and more resistant to fires, Cal Fire said in a statement.
The Resource Conservation District will work with the Santa Cruz Mountain Stewardship Network, the Amah Mutsun tribal band and private landowners, Cal Fire said.
