2 Santa Cruz Cops Get Promotions

The Santa Cruz Police Department congratulated Lt. Jon Bush and Sgt. Brad Burruel on their recent promotions.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz Police Sgt. Brad Burruel and Lt. Jon Bush were promoted Monday and received high praise from the department.

"Jon Bush and Brad Burruel demonstrate dedication and the most important leadership skills to
inspire our officers to level up," Chief Andy Mills said in a press release. "You can count on these two officers to always uphold the professionalism the community expects from the Santa Cruz Police Department."

Bush has been with the department for 22 years and worked in patrol, investigations and the county's Anti-Crime Team, according to the press release. He served as a training officer and Hostage Negotiations Team Leader, supervised patrol teams, managed the Downtown Unit and Neighborhood Policing Teams. Bush, who lives in Santa Cruz with his family, has been named Office of the Year and received the Chief's Commendation and Life Saving Award.

Burruel has been with the department for 12 years and served in patrol and the Downtown Unit and Emergency Services Unit Tactical Team, according to the press release. He has taught new patrol officers, teaches defensive tactics and helped to create the department's Threat Assessment Team.
