5 Displaced In Multi-Residential Complex Fire

BREAKING: The blaze caused $325,000 in damages to the building along Trescony Street in Santa Cruz.

SANTA CRUZ, CA – Five people were displaced by a fire that broke out early Wednesday morning at a multi-residential building complex in Santa Cruz, fire officials said.

According to Santa Cruz fire officials, at 1:11 a.m. firefighters responded to a report of a vegetation fire at 329 Trescony St.

Firefighters arrived and found an outdoor gas line on fire. They also found fire coming from the building, the attic, a fence and vegetation, fire officials said.

Additional units arrived and firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze. Crews remained on the scene for three hours to complete overhaul and put out hot spots, fire officials said.

Although there were no reports of injuries, five people were displaced and fire officials said the fire caused $325,000 in damage.

The building is uninhabitable and the cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials said.
