$68,000 Donated To Santa Cruz Co. Nonprofits Thanks To ‘World’s Biggest Garage Sale’

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Twin Lakes Church in Santa Cruz raised about $68,000 for two local nonprofit organizations during their annual “World’s Biggest Garage Sale” on May 13. A church spokesperson says hundreds of volunteers worked for months to sort thousands of donated items and manage the massive sale.

The Second Harvest Food Bank received $54,000 and $13,500 was given to Teen Challenge Monterey Bay for their new Brennan Street Shelter for Women and Children. The donation to the food bank translates to 216,000 meals distributed to the hungry in Santa Cruz County.
