SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Traffic was briefly stalled on state Highway 9 on Sunday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision was reported in northern Santa Cruz County that left a motorcyclist with major injuries.
The collision was reported just before 1 p.m. at Shingle Mill Road, near the San Mateo County line, and involved an SUV and a motorcycle, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch traffic.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area in a message from CHP at about 1:20 p.m.
The highway was reopened at about 2 p.m.
A helicopter ambulance was called to transport the motorcycle rider to a hospital to be treated for major injuries, according to CHP dispatch traffic.
