Two Teens Arrested In Connection With Santa Cruz Boardwalk Shooting

Santa Cruz police said they arrested two 17-year-old suspects in Ceres, California.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Two 17-year-olds were arrested in connection with a shooting at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the Santa Cruz Police Department said Tuesday.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots at 9:02 p.m. in the parking lot across from the Boardwalk, police said. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area for suspects, secured the scene, and collected multiple pieces of evidence.

The Boardwalk was evacuated, and visitors were asked to shelter in place. No injuries were reported. The Boardwalk was reopened Tuesday, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk said Tuesday.

The SCPD's Investigations Bureau arrested two 17-year-olds in Ceres (just outside Modesto) with the help of the Ceres Police Department and the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team. No further information on the arrest was given.

"The Santa Cruz Police Department worked in partnership with the Santa Cruz Seaside Company, which operates the Boardwalk, on this investigation, resulting in this arrest," the SCPD said in a statement. "Through ongoing communication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to public safety, the Seaside Company and Santa Cruz Police work together to create a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. Thank you to all partner agencies involved."
