Bagpiper Salute to Veterans Planned at Santa Cruz Memorial Park

Local resident Gale Geurin is organizing a bagpipe tribute for veterans laid to rest at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park on July 24 at 1 p.m.

Gale's husband, Arvy A. Geurin, a World War II veteran and survivor of Iwo Jima, passed away in 2012, and she wants to honor his memory, along with at least 50 other veterans buried at the park, with an Amazing Grace performance.

"No veteran should be forgotten," she said.

The bagpipe tribute will be at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park in the section furthest away from the main entrance, facing Paul Sweet Road, near the entrance to Chaminade, she said.

Gale is inviting all family members of the veterans who passed away to join her in this honor.

Among those buried in the section and who will be remembered that day are:
