A beach community with four top-notch ice cream shops was named the best town for a cone in the region by The Mercury News.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Aptos was recently named the best town for ice cream in Northern California by The Mercury News.

While its population is just over 6,000, the beach community south of ice cream hotspot Santa Cruz boasts four widely varying local shops serving up scoops and cones, the newspaper reported.

“All of this makes Aptos a true destination for those in search of a good cone,” according to The Mercury News. “The fact that this Santa Cruz County town can list so many other enticing reasons to visit – from the beaches and redwoods to the restaurants and shops – certainly doesn’t hurt matters.”
