Cancer Patient Reunited With Stolen Bike, Thanks To Santa Cruz PD
The patient hopes to ride his bike again when he beats cancer, police say.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A local man fighting cancer was reunited with his stolen, $5,600 bicycle last week thanks to a vigilant resident and the Santa Cruz Police Department. He said he hopes to ride it again when he beats cancer.
A Santa Cruz resident found the bike behind a building and turned it into the department, where a community service officer looked into the bike's origins, wrote department spokesperson Joyce Blaschke in a Facebook post.
The officer determined that the Family Cycling Center sold the man his bike. The shop shared that the man stopped by to check if his bike had been turned in and left his phone number, Blaschke wrote.

The patient, who is undergoing treatment, has limited opportunities to leave the facility. But he made time to pick up his bike and pose for a photo with the community service officer who made the reunion possible.
