Car Overturns On Highway 1

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A driver suffered minor injuries after a crash that left his car overturned on Highway 1.

The 18-year-old driver from Sacramento was driving his Lexus northbound on Highway 1, south of Ocean Street, around 3:40 p.m. Sunday, California Highway Patrol said in a news release. He lost control in the leftmost lane, hit the center divide and veered to the right, across the northbound lanes. His car overturned on the shoulder.

He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center, CHP said.

CHP is investigating the cause of the crash, but said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role.
