In keeping with the tradition of recent years, the Chorale’s Christmas concert presents musical gems from centuries past, as well as contemporary interpretations of the season’s message. Three of Claudio Monteverdi’s “Christmas Vespers,” Psalm settings for choir, instrumentalists, and soloists, recreate the festive atmosphere of a Renaissance Christmas.
Compositions by Lauridsen, Whitacre and Tavener add a distinctly different sense of mystery and wonder. Carols, familiar and new, bring you joyously into the center of this wonderful season.
