Construction Of 21 Crossing Improvements In Santa Cruz To Begin July 27

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. —The City of Santa Cruz is scheduled to begin the construction of the Citywide Pedestrian Crossing Improvement Project on Monday, July 27. The project, expected to be completed in December 2020, will include new ADA curb ramps, regulatory and warning signs, pedestrian activated beacons, traffic striping and pavement markings.

Construction will occur on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two-way traffic will remain in place, however, there may be delays due to construction activity. Please follow all temporary traffic control as parking, bike lanes, and pedestrian access will be impacted in these construction areas.

The goal of the Citywide Pedestrian Crossing Improvement Project is to increase safety for walking and bicycling throughout Santa Cruz as identified in the City’s Active Transportation Plan.

The project’s cost of approximately $1 million is fully funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program Cycle 8 grant. The construction contract has been awarded to Precision Grade, Inc.
