County Announces Series Of Hearings For 2020-21 Budget

The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a series of public hearings to make revisions to the 2020-21 Budget.

The $878 Proposed Budget was initially adopted in June as a placeholder with recognition that further cuts would be necessary to address budget shortfalls due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the County implemented employee furloughs, more than $12 million in additional reductions are needed to balance the budget and continue protecting the health and safety of the community during the pandemic.
The hearing schedule is as follows:
August 10, 9 a.m. – Health and Human Services August 11, 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. – Public Safety August 12, 9 a.m. – General Government August 13, 9 a.m. – Land Use and Community Services August 18, 1:30 p.m. – Last Day Reports and Concluding Actions

As part of worker furloughs, most County offices will close on 19 days during the fiscal year, with details available at www.santacruzcounty.us. Many critical services, including health care and benefits enrollment, will continue to be offered on those days.
