Santa Cruz Bicyclist Killed In Highway 1 Crash

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A bicyclist was fatally hit by a car Thursday night near Davenport Beach in unincorporated Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The bicyclist, a 66-year-old man from Santa Cruz, was headed southbound along State Highway 1 south of Davenport Road about 9:40 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Prius, the CHP said.

The bicyclist was ejected into the northbound lane and then hit by two cars. The man, whose name was not released, died at the scene, according to the CHP. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
