Deputies Handing Out Free Water to Combat Heat Wave

Deputies are carrying bottles of cold water. Flag-down a deputy is you need relief.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office will help residents stay cool during the heat today by handing out water bottles.

With temperatures in the county expected to reach between 90 and 100 degrees today, deputies on patrol during the day will be equipped with cases of cold water bottles, sheriff’s officials said.

Residents who are in need will be able to flag down a deputy and get a free bottle, according to the sheriff’s office. Additionally, the sheriff’s office’s service centers will also be stocked with free water bottles for anyone who asks. The service will last until 4 p.m., sheriff’s officials said.
