Domestic Disturbance, Fire In Santa Cruz Leads To 2 Arrests
Santa Cruz police officers and fire crews were called to 314 Jessie Street for a reported domestic disturbance and a fire.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Two people were taken into custody Wednesday following a domestic disturbance and fire, the Santa Cruz Police Department reported.
Around 9:37 a.m., Santa Cruz police officers and fire crews were called to 314 Jessie Street for a reported domestic disturbance and an "intentionally set" fire, according to the SCPD.
As police helped evacuate the dwelling, a man later identified as 39-year-old Grant Washburn "delayed and resisted" police and fire crews, according to the SCPD. He was arrested on suspicion of obstruction charges.

Police and fire crews also determined that a woman who was at the dwelling set the blaze, according to the SCPD. Brenda Scott, 51, was transported from the location to an out-of-county trauma center as a result of injuries she suffered during the incident and remains on an in-custody status on suspicion of arson, according to the SCPD.
It's unclear what the relationship is between Washburn and Scott. Both were listed as Santa Cruz residents.
