History & Philosophy of Herbal Medicine

Renowned UCSC professor Dr. Paul Lee will trace the history of herbal medicine over the centuries from Ancient Greece to the present time. His illustrated presentation aims at recovering the lost botanical basis of healthcare & restoring the transmission of herbal knowledge by overcoming the short circuit which has occurred as herbalism has been subverted & undermined by modern science.

This is going to be a great workshop!

Dr Lee was the founder of the Alan Chadwick Garden at UCSC in 1967, the first organic garden at a university in the United States. He was the founder of the Homeless Garden Project as well, in 1989. As Executive Director of the Herb Trade Association he was responsible for organizing the herbal industry, promoting the use of medicinal herbs and restoring the botanical basis of health care. He organized five international herb symposia and was invited to China as a guest of the Chinese government. He pioneered the use of herbs for the immune system on the basis of his theory of an herb code in the immune memory of DNA.
