Lifeways of the Ohlone Indians of the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Area

The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History's new Connect with Nature series runs every Saturday from January 29, 2011 to February 19, 2011. Each class is $8 for members and $10 for general admission. Please register online or at the class.

On February 19th join the Museum for Lifeways of the Ohlone Indians of the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Are. This lecture and slideshow will provide an outline of the archaeology and ethnography of the ancestral Ohlone people and provide insights into the native lifeway that once flourished in our neighborhoods.  We will reflect on what it was like not too many years ago when grizzly bears and the Ohlone people dwelled here.

Mark Hylkema is the Santa Cruz District Archaeologist for California State Parks, and manages cultural resources within 32 parks unit in an area ranging from San Francisco to the Pajaro River. Meet at the Museum at 10am. Questions? Call 831-420-1135.
