If you have ever thought the solar system was a pretty weird place, you may be right. Within the last twenty years, astronomers have discovered thousands of exoplanets, planets around other stars. These other solar systems seem nothing like our own, and we have only just begun. Join us for an adventure through the solar neighborhood as we discuss the ways exoplanets are discovered, several of the most intriguing finds, and what’s next on the quest for an Earth-like planet.

The lecture will be held at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History. In the event of clear skies, after the talk we will caravan to campus for guided star-gazing. If fog or clouds obscure visibility, the talk may be extended at the Museum.
