Fire In Storey Street Home 'Unintentional': Santa Cruz Fire Dept.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — An Aug. 30 residential fire that displaced nine people was unitentional, according to a preliminary report from the Santa Cruz Fire Department.

The non-injury blaze at 215 Storey Street was reported around 8:41 a.m. The first arriving SCFD unit reported smoke and fire coming from the two-story residence, and the home's occupants were standing out front, according to the SCFD.

Additional fire crews arrived on scene; once they got inside the home, fire was found in a second-floor bedroom.

It took about 15 minutes to fully extinguish the blaze.

Although the fire remained under investigation, it was classified as unintentional and not suspicious in nature, according to the SCFD.

The Red Cross was providing care and support for the nine displaced people.
