Fundraiser Will Support Boulder Creek Volunteer Firefighters

A special fund has been set up by HeartMath, a Boulder Creek based company, to go directly to the Boulder Creek volunteer firefighters who have been battling the unprecedented CZU Lightning Complex Fires in the town of Boulder Creek, California for nearly a month. The HeartMath organization is donating $5,000 to get some funds to the firefighters right away and in addition has pledged to match every donation dollar for dollar up to $20,000. The HeartMath team is asking people to donate what they can in support of these brave men and women who, along with firefighters from other communities, saved the historic town of Boulder Creek.

Representatives of the HeartMath company say they are hopeful that together we can all make a significant contribution to the Boulder Creek volunteer firefighters. This fund, endorsed by Boulder Creek Fire Chief Mark Bingham and the Boulder Creek Fire Department, has been set up with Liberty Bank of Boulder Creek, California and GoFundMe. The Boulder Creek Volunteer Fire Department is a nonprofit and all donations are tax-deductible.

HeartMath President, Deborah Rozman, a long-time resident of Boulder Creek says, “As a locally-based business, the team at HeartMath is honored to provide matching funds up to $20,000 and we hope to be able to contribute more in the future. We recognize that not every home could be saved, and our hearts are with those who lost their homes and with the family of Tad Jones, the Last Chance Road resident who lost his life trying to escape the fires.”

Grateful to the firefighters for saving our community’s homes and businesses from the CZU Lightning Complex Fires, Rozman added, “It is truly humbling to see these volunteers helping our community knowing that some have lost their own homes while they were trying to save the community. We want the Boulder Creek Volunteer Fire Department men and women to know that their heroic efforts are deeply appreciated by their community.”

With enormous fires burning across California, firefighting demands are at an all-time high and volunteers are being stretched to extraordinary levels. The HeartMath team says they’re hopeful that other towns with volunteer fire departments will follow suit and organize fundraisers to put immediate real dollars into the hands of their own volunteer firefighters. All volunteer districts deserve this.
