Hearts Warmed By Winter Care Packages Donated By Deputies
Mittens, socks, a beanie and blanket are given to those in need during the chilly winter, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff's Association has created cozy care packages of mittens, socks, a beanie and blanket for chilly residents in need.
Patrolling deputies also have packages on hand in case they spot anyone who could use some warming up, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.
Care packages were funded by deputies and donations to the association.

Facebook commenters loved the gesture, thanking deputies for showing compassion and providing community service.
"So many people donate to great causes at the holidays," wrote one person. "Unfortunately the homeless need some help the rest of the winter months."

Donations of winter weather items can be brought to the Sheriff's Office at 5200 Soquel Ave. Checks can be made out to the Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff's Association and mailed or brought in to the office.
