Helicopter Over Santa Cruz Prompts Flurry Of 911 Calls

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A helicopter that hovered over Santa Cruz and Capitola Sunday afternoon prompted numerous 911 calls from concerned residents, according to authorities. Police said the helicopter was part of a film crew and was not related to any police activity in the area, according to a Nixle Alert sent to residents at 8:23 p.m.

Many who saw the helicopter took social media to comment after police shared the information. Several people in Santa Cruz and Capitola complained about the noise generated from the helicopter which hovering for "hours." Others expressed relief that the helicopter was deemed "nothing suspicious" by police.
