SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The state warned that this year's winter flu season is the earliest in 15 years. If you live in Santa Cruz County and haven't already been vaccinated this year, two county clinics are among the many places accepting walk-ins for the flu shot.
The Santa Cruz Health Center (1080 Emeline Ave.) and Watsonville County Health Clinic (1430 Freedom Blvd., Ste. D) are open weekdays from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
There is no cost for those who have Medi-Cal, Medicare or another form of insurance. Otherwise, the shot can cost $15 to $69, according to the county's website. No appointments are needed, but the clinics will be closed on holidays acknowledged by the county, such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
