Homeless Encampments Being Cleared From Santa Cruz Co. Park

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Homeless people who have taken up residence near near Felton Covered Bridge County Park are being cleared out. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office reported that the months' long effort has resulted in "numerous arrests and citations for a variety of crimes."

The process has been a coordinated group effort. In addition to arrests and clearing people out, the officials have been removing trash and belongings that have been accumulating from the illegal camps. Additionally, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has been assisting with investigating "several environmental crimes due to the serious risk of waterway pollution," the sheriff's office reported.
