How to: White Blazer

There are only a few things that will often catch your eye. One of them is definitely a bright blazer. But you don't quite see a white one as often as you'd think. If you do, you'll see it in a creme wash with lace or the leather ones with studs, both modeled outside of forever 21 in downtown Santa Cruz over the course of the summer (both quite adorable). But really, you and I both know we want to have a casual & smart outlook for any first impression...even if it's going to the grocery market...and a White Blazer can succeed that.

White blazers are just as interchangeable as a black blazer. It's all about fit! I always felt that blazer did not look quite well on me unless I wore a long sweater....Then behold the boyfriend blazer that came back from the 80's. I have big shoulders, so might as well flaunt them. I usually opt for a tuxedo version because of the thick fabric and the grown up fit.

There's various blazers that come in different sizes...! Express in Capitola is the best place to start, for men and women. My favorite is White House Black Market winter collections in Monterey and Nordstrom's racks during the summer in San Jose. If you check in with the downtown boutiques a couple times a month, you'll find it! I like TWIST, CrossRoads and Pacific Trading Co. in downtown Santa Cruz.

I've added a few tips that I've listed below, but really, if you find the total opposite that totally rocks your style, get it & don't hold back, these are serious staples that you can wear over and over and over again for years to come!

Curvy Figures: Cropped blazers (blazers that hit you right above the hip with slight details at the front bottom of the lapel.
Thin Figures: Longer boyfriend blazers help satisfy the length of your body.
Petite Figures (see above for curvy; if your petite but with longer legs than your torso, look at "thin figures")
