What: Teacher Appreciation Day

Where: All Chipotle restaurants (Santa Cruz: 550 River St.)

When: 4 p.m. to close

Why: Chipotle is putting teachers at the head of the class this Teacher Appreciation Day with a special “buy-one-get-one-free” promotion. Teachers and educators who show a valid school ID identifying them as staff will receive a free burrito, salad, burrito bowl or order of tacos when they purchase another menu item at Chipotle Mexican Grill.

 

What:  Yoga Kids Classes

When:  4p.m. to 5:30p.m.

Where:  Luma Yoga and Family Center

Why Go:  Does your child need a time out?  Classes aim to help your kids promote deep relaxation, a sense of calm and emotional empowerment.

Cost:  $14 drop-in (class cards plus memberships available)

 

What:  Kids Community Ice Cream Social

When:  1p.m. to 4p.m.

Where:  Marini's Downtown, 1308 Pacific Ave.

Why Go:  For the Love of Ice Cream. Celebrate being a kid every Tuesday in May with your favorite cold treat during Community Day.

What:  Santa Cruz ADHD Support Group

When:  6:30p.m. to 8p.m.

Where:  Mar Vista Elementary School

Why Go:  Do you or someone in your family suffer from ADHD?  Get help and answers.

 

 

What:  Triple P 8 Week Group For Families with Children Birth - 12

When:  6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where:  Community Bridges, 236 Santa Cruz Ave.

Why Go:  There is a way to handle disruptive and challenging behaviors with greater confidence and take care of yourself as a parent.

Cost:  Free 8 week session for children up to twelve. 

 

                                Thursday, May 9th

What:  Natural History Storytime

When:  3:30p.m. to 4p.m.

Where:  Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History

Why Go:  This weekly Pre-School Program brings animals, habitats, and more to life with puppets, songs, stories, and museum artifacts.

Cost:  Free for youth and museum admission; $4/adult, $2/senior

 

What:  Marine Mammal Research Tour

When:  2p.m. to 3:30p.m.

Where:  Long Marine Lab; Seymour Marine Discovery Center

Why Go:  Budding Scientist over the age of 10 might enjoy the work of Scientists, and tour sealife.  Sea Lions, Whales, and Dolphins make an unforgettable splash.
