Live-Stream Dinner To-Go & Music To Benefit Homeless Services
The virtual party is a fundraiser for Footbridge Services Center, a volunteer effort providing basic needs for Santa Cruz-area homeless.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Footbridge Services Center is hosting a grand-opening, live-stream dinner party on May 30 for its facility that fills such basic needs as showers, storage and laundry services for Santa Cruz's homeless population.
The $30 ticket includes a to-go dinner, a dinner candle and viewing of the event with live music from Wireless Lovebird and video testimonials from the Warming Center Program and Footbridge.
The fundraising effort is key, organizers said, as the Warming Center programs are volunteer-based and receive no financial support from the county or city of Santa Cruz, plus are facing a grant suspension.

"Much of our expected yearly sustaining grant funding has been suspended (such as a grant from Kaiser Permanente), so this event will be critical in helping to get us through the spring and summer months as we continue to provide much-needed basic services to everyone who needs them," The Warming Center Program said on its Facebook event post.
The Footbridge Services Center, named for its location on the east side of the Felker Street footbridge, provides "Shower Sundays" with soap and towels for those in need from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., storage facilities for the homeless' bedding and personal belongings, and once-a-week, free laundry services.
