Man Charged With Fireworks-Related Arson

Investigators believe the man was involved in an arson case last month near Soquel High School.

SOQUEL, CA — The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in connection an arson case near Soquel High School last month.

Sergio G. Garcia, 20, has been charged with a felony arson count, jail records show.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said it arrested Garcia on Hilltop Court in Soquel after receiving reports of fireworks in the area. Deputies arrived to find Garcia, who was a suspect in the arson case.

Fireworks played a role in the hillside catching fire, the sheriff's office said.
