Man Passed Out With Gas Can Leads To 3 Arrests In Soquel

The investigation led to the discovery of drugs and stolen landscaping tools, according to the sheriff's office.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Three people were arrested Thursday in a Soquel neighborhood after a concerned citizen spotted one of the suspects passed out in a car with a gas can. After receiving the call, deputies with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and roused the man. According to the agency, two other people were also inside the vehicle, along with stolen landscaping tools and methamphetamine.

Spencer Ludlow was arrested on warrants; Ashley Heuser was was taken in on suspicion of methamphetamine possession; and Cole Mertes was arrested on suspicion of theft and methamphetamine possession.

The landscaping tools were identified by their serial numbers and had been stolen from a local resort only a few days prior, according to the sheriff's office.
