Mark Jackson Preaches Team's Lack of Effort

But is he giving the proper sermon?

Golden State dropped their fourth loss in the past six games, and Mark Jackson was not pleased by his team's effort.

"The guys in suits and ties want it more than the guys in uniforms," said Jackson.

Jackson is not one to hedge his words unlike other Bay Area coaches, so what he says has an impact.  The question is, it is the right one?

Jackson called out his team and stated their problems was a lack of effort and passion to play the game.  How does one measure effort?  Statistically?  Emotionally? Physically?  The amount someone sweats on the floor?  It's not a tangible quality, therefore how can someone say effort is the problem with the squad in Oakland?

Let's remember, these are professional athletes.  Curry, Lee, Thompson, and the rest of the team put in effort from the day they started dribbling a basketball.  They fulfilled a lifelong dream when they put on their uniform every night.  How is it, that all of a sudden effort is the problem?  Because it's not.

With injuries abound, the team is exposing its lack of depth coming off the bench.  Jermaine O'Neal?  He might be done for the year, but that depends who you ask.  Iguodala?  He might be returning tonight, and he's a much more viable answer to the Warriors problems than just saying 'effort' is the problem.

Where is the X's and O's?  What about answering for the early season struggles of David Lee?  Emotion might be a factor for this team, but the fact remains, numbers never lie.  His field-goal percentage is the worst of his career, and if including his patented mid-range jumper, he's shooting a whopping 26 percent.

While putting up nearly a double-double every night, his defense comes into question as his interior defense comes under fire while Draymond Green continues to thrive under Mark Jackson's system.  Why is it easy to place blame in simple terms towards effort, yet the obvious answer is staring right back at Jackson.

At what point do you give up the nightly offensive stats Lee provides in exchange for lockdown defense Green is able to give the team?  That's a question for Mark Jackson to answer, and while fans may not be happy with the team's current roster, especially with the absence of Iguodala, it's not time to give up on Lee just yet.

Twitter is in an uproar and requests/demands for the trading of Lee constantly fill up the average fan's timeline.  What I ask you, would someone expect in return?  If someone is not playing well, as suggested by Lee's performance, who is going to want to give something up for him?  It's not as easy as plugging in the appropriate players into the ESPN Trade Machine, it's much more complicated than that.

By all accounts, it's still early in the season and with the internet's compulsive obsession with knee-jerk reactions, it's not surprising to see this transpire through means of social media.  After all, it's about effort right?
