MLK March Planned In Santa Cruz, On MLK Day
The march, organized by the NAACP Santa Cruz chapter and Santa Cruz Police Department, will be held through downtown Santa Cruz on Jan. 20.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz residents will march through downtown Santa Cruz next week honor the legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr.
The event will be held Monday, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Marchers will meet at Pacific Avenue and Cathcart Street from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., then head down Maple Street to the Louden Nelson Community Center, where speeches will be given from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The march is organized by the NAACP Santa Cruz branch and Santa Cruz Police Department.

Organizations, clubs and groups interested in attending are asked to register in advance here. Volunteers are needed and may sign up here.
"The MLK March in Santa Cruz is more than a march," the city wrote. "It is an opportunity to put Dr. King’s words and ideals into practice by inviting others from different ethnicities, religions or backgrounds walk together and listen to one another."
