Man Killed In Santa Cruz County Stabbing, Sheriff Says
A 35-year-old man was found with stab wounds and pronounced dead Saturday night at a friend's home, the sheriff's office said.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A 35-year-old man died this weekend at a friend's home after suffering multiple stab wounds, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said Monday morning.
Deputies arrived at the Live Oak home of Leif Ames, 35, in the 800 block of Brommer Street after receiving a report of a stabbing, the sheriff's office said in a statement. Ames was found in front of the house and arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, the sheriff's office said.
Inside Ames's friend Hubert Cross was found with stab wounds, the sheriff's office said. Deputies tried to save his life, but he was pronounced dead.

Ames remains in jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
