Santa Cruz Co Neighborhood Court Community Meeting Set For Monday

Neighborhood Court launched in December 2020 by the District Attorney's Office as a new diversion program.

Press release from the Office of the District Attorney:

Santa Cruz County District Attorney Jeff Rosell is hosting a meeting on October 25th at 6pm to update the community on the progress of the Neighborhood Court program. Neighborhood Court launched in December 2020 by the District Attorney’s Office as a new diversion program.

Neighborhood Court is a community driven, pre-filing diversion program designed to divert low level misdemeanor offenses from entering the criminal justice system and addresses criminal violations that impact the quality of life in the community. First time offenders are given the opportunity to go through a community-based process using restorative justice principles as an alternative to criminal court. The purpose of Neighborhood Court is to reduce recidivism, address the harm caused, and restore the local community.
