New Leaf Customers Provide 51,116 Meals for Local Families in Need
Every holiday season, New Leaf customers give generously to Second Harvest Food Bank.
During the annual holiday food drive, held November 4 – December 31, customers of New Leaf Community Markets stores in Santa Cruz and Capitola donated $39,753 at the cash register, and New Leaf contributed some matching funds. $17,779 of total funds were donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County, providing for 51,116 meals for Santa Cruz County families in need.
In addition, New Leaf and Smart Chicken® donated 2 tons (4,375 pounds) of nutritious Smart Chicken to Second Harvest. For every ten pounds of Smart Chicken purchased at New Leaf during the month of November, one pound was donated to the food bank.
