Night Of Crime Keeps Santa Cruz Police Busy
The arrests show a hectic weekend for officers on duty.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A string of alleged criminal activity kept Santa Cruz police officers busy over the weekend. The department announced five arrests Friday night and into early Saturday morning. According to the department, the arrests included:
—Officers responded to 500 block of Cedar Street for a report of a suspicious person trying to get into the building. Officers located Travis Bennett at the scene. Officer Kiar recognized Bennett as the suspect from an earlier residential burglary report. Mr. Bennett was arrested again for burglary.
—SCPD responded to the Surf City Inn for a report of a suspicious person on the property. Officers located Mikhail Aronov. Officer Dement arrested him for public intoxication (drugs) and possession of a controlled substance.
—Officer Rosell contacted an Alex Leaman at Cayuga & Windham and arrested him for public intoxication (alcohol).
—Officers responded to the 200 block of Van Ness for a report of an occupied residential burglary. SCPD located Christopher Prasad inside the residence, and Officer Cathrein arrested him for burglary.
—Officers responded to Argus Motors at 905 Water Street for a report of a subject inside one of the for-sale vehicles. Officer Rosell arrested Jose Ruiz for trespassing and vehicle tampering.
