No Gunman, Victim Located After Report Of Shots Fired: Santa Cruz
Law enforcement officials searched for more than an hour after a caller reported hearing gunfire, but found no gunman or victim.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Five local law enforcement agencies embarked on an hour-and-a-half search of the Paradise Park and Pogonip Park area after a caller reported shots fired, but neither a gunman nor victim were located, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. In addition to the Sheriff's Office, Santa Cruz Police, University of Santa Cruz Police, California Highway Patrol and California State Parks officials responded to the call.
Officials responded at 2:30 p.m. and searched until 4 p.m., said Sheriff's Office spokesperson Ashley Keehn. A brief shelter-in-place order was issued for the Paradise Park area.
The caller was unable to pinpoint where they thought they heard gunfire coming from.
