No way to treat the American flag.

Do you think people are being patriotic when they wear flag shirts, or flag clothing of any kind, or use flags to advertise used cars, new cars? I'm a liberal and I follow the US Flag Code(see Title VIII). Here's a pic of the flag outside my dad's cottage where he lived for the last fourteen years of his life. He was a Navy captain and a true conservative. He had nothing but disdain for the people who use the flag to  embellish their own alleged "patriotism". Respect for the flag means that you don't wear it, use it for advertising or self-promotion.  The one in this picture is taken down every night. It once flew over a battlefield and was given by soldiers to my father.  I don't wear it or advertise with it or fly it tattered from a car antenna. what do you think?
