One Arrested, One Detained In Fatal Shooting In Santa Cruz
The incident was Friday in River Street and North Pacific Avenue area.

Santa Cruz police arrested one person and detained another Saturday in connection with a fatal shooting Friday evening, police said.
Police said a $1,000,000 arrest warrant was issued for one suspect, who was spotted around 11 a.m. Saturday in the area of Broadway and Ocean Street.
The suspect allegedly ran away from officers before boarding a Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District bus, according to police. Police stopped the bus in the area of Soquel and Seabright avenues, where officers took the suspect into custody, police said. No one on the bus was injured.

A second suspect was also detained and is being interviewed by detectives, police said.
Police said the identities of the two suspects are not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Officers responded at 7:30 p.m. Friday to a report of shots fired in the area of River Street and North Pacific Avenue, police said. Officers found one person suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have not released the identity of the victim and said there were no other injuries reported in the shooting.
An employee at the Santa Cruz County coroner’s office said today that Santa Cruz police would release the victim’s identity early next week.
