Pedestrian Struck By Car In Santa Cruz

Officers responded to the 900 block of Ocean Street near Blaine Street around 8:20 p.m.

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- A man who walked in front of a car that was driving down Ocean Avenue in Santa Cruz Sunday was taken to a trauma center with injuries including compound fractures, police said. Officers responded to the 900 block of Ocean Street near Blaine Street around 8:20 p.m. and found the 66-year-old pedestrian lying in the road, according to police.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian "walked directly in front of the vehicle traveling southbound on Ocean Street at approximately 25 mph," police said in a statement.

The driver of the yellow 2009 Mini Cooper, the vehicle involved in the incident, was cooperative with investigators and was not arrested or cited, according to police.
