PG&E To Open Community Center In Aptos During Power Outage

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — PG&E announced it will open a number of Community Resource Centers across Northern and Central California to support ratepayers in areas affected by the utility's Public Safety Power Shutoff that could begin at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.

In Santa Cruz County, a center will open at Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Dr., Aptos, from 8 a.m. to dusk, during the outages that could begin Wednesday at 12:01 a.m.

The center will have restrooms, bottled water, electronic-device charging and air-conditioned seating for up to 100 people.

A total of 28 centers will open in counties affected by the shutdown.

The planned outages have been prompted by extreme fire weather that is calling for strong wind and low humidity. The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning that will be in effect from 5 a.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday for the East and North Bay hills and valleys, and from 5 p.m. Wednesday to noon Thursday for the Santa Cruz mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
