Phony Santa Cruz Deputy, Arizona Cop Nabbed At Coffee Shop: Sheriff

BREAKING: According to Santa Cruz law enforcement, the man had an arsenal of weapons in his car and a badge in his wallet.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – At an Aptos coffee shop, Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man who allegedly in recent weeks was claiming to be undercover police officer from Arizona and a Santa Cruz County deputy -- even handing out business cards and flashing a badge and gun.

Deputies reported James Heffner was arrested without incident.

A search of Heffner's vehicle uncovered three loaded handguns, one of which was stolen, and one rifle, deputies said. In addition, a Phoenix police badge reportedly was recovered from Heffner's wallet.
