Planning A Burn In Central Santa Cruz County? Get A Permit

With the upcoming backyard burn season, Central Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County is making burn permits available.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Residents who live within the Central Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County limits and wish to conduct backyard burns during the Dec. 1 to April 3 burn season must obtain a permit from the district. Permits will be available on Monday, Dec. 2 at the Aptos administration office, 6934 Soquel Drive.

Permits must be acquired by the property owner, as of this year. They can no longer be obtained at the Santa Cruz office at 930 17th Ave.

Warming and cooking fires are not considered burns, according to the district.
