Plush Santa Cruz PD K-9s: A Doggone Perfect Holiday Gift And For A Great Cause!

SANTA CRUZ, CA – As part of a fundraising effort for its' K-9 operations, the Santa Cruz Police Department is selling adorable, stuffed mini-likenesses of police dogs -- right down to the customized protective vests, just like the agency's K-9 officers!

The huggable toy dogs are available for a $10 donation, the department said. And proceeds from sales of the fluffy K-9s will help offset costs associated with caring for SCPD's working K-9s.

The tax-deductible donations will be put toward:

• · Funding of replacement K-9s
• · Supplemental funding of community education
• · Purchasing protective equipment
• · Funding specialized K-9 schools
• · Funding of medical expenses for retired K-9s
• · Defraying K-9 burial or cremation costs
• · Health insurance for current K-9s

Police noted the fundraiser originated with a generous sponsorship from Westside Animal Hospital and local veterinarian Dave Shuman.
