Power Outage Hits Day 5 For Some Santa Cruz County Residents

Many residents scheduled for Tuesday night's shutdown have been without power since Saturday.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA —Santa Cruz County is still scheduled for another Public Safety Power Shutoff beginning Tuesday around 10 p.m. The outage is slated to impact 5,400 customers in the Davenport, Bonny Doon, Boulder Creek and Castle Rock areas.

Although PG&E expects to give the all clear early Wednesday morning, it could take up to 48 hours or longer to restore power, according to officials.

While power has been restored to large portions of the county from the weekend's outage, many residents scheduled for Tuesday night's shutdown have been without power since Saturday. Some have limited communications and are having difficulty with water supplies, according to the county.

A supplemental community resource center is being opened at a Highlands County Park, 8500 Highway 9, Ben Lomond. The resource center provides power and charging services, refreshments and information. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until further notice. The center replaces one in Scotts Valley; the county expects other resource centers to close soon.

As of Tuesday night, schools are scheduled to be open in Santa Cruz County.
